The Duke of York was The Goose and Firkin, the first in the Firkin chain of brew pubs. The Firkin chain was bought out by Punch Taverns. The Firkin chain owned the pub from from 1979 to 1995. Before that it was a Truman House.

It is a Shepheard Neame house now, at 47 Borough Road, London SE1 1DR (Telephone 020 7403 3590).
